Contra Costa County Public Works announced that construction on the Springbrook Road Culvert and Sinkhole Repair project will begin Thursday, October 1, 2026, and continue through Monday, November 30, 2026; work is scheduled 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, weather permitting.
The county said the project will repair a damaged culvert and sinkhole located under Springbrook Road; funding comes from Federal Emergency Relief Funds and Local Road Funds.
Springbrook Road will be closed to through traffic between east of Sherwood Way and south of the project site during working hours; residents along the closure may experience delays of up to 15 minutes. Detours will be posted and message boards will alert drivers, according to the county notice.
Contra Costa County advised drivers to plan for delays and use alternate routes when possible; this is the county's operational guidance for minimizing impacts.
