San Bernardino County said it marked the completion of improvements to the Wonder Valley Community Center on Sept. 23 with a ribbon cutting that included Board of Supervisors Chairman and Third District Supervisor and community members.

Rowe was instrumental in securing approximately $690,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funding to support the improvements; San Bernardino County Public Works Special Districts led the project.

Work included upgrades to the kitchen, restrooms, cooling and water heater systems, lighting and the septic system, along with general repairs and the installation of a commercial-grade reverse osmosis water filtration system.

Rowe said, "Most importantly, this investment helps ensure the Wonder Valley Community Center can continue serving as a gathering place and resource for this community for years to come."

The county said the project reflects the Countywide Vision by investing in welcoming, reliable community spaces that strengthen quality of life and help residents stay connected.

For residents, the practical result is a refreshed community building with improved water filtration, plumbing and climate control; county officials presented the work as preserving a longtime gathering place in the rural Morongo Basin.
