The County Communications Office said dozens of couples exchanged vows Friday at the County Administration Center during the county’s annual Halloweddings.

The Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk’s Office welcomed walk-in marriage licenses and civil wedding ceremonies with no appointment required; Halloween-themed officiants added a festive touch to the ceremonies.

“Halloweddings is a great way for our ARCC team to bring fun and romance together in a memorable celebration for San Diego County,” said San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk Jordan Marks.

The county said the event is an annual tradition intended to offer couples a fun and affordable way to tie the knot; the department issues nearly 25,000 marriage licenses and performs more than 11,000 civil marriage ceremonies each year.

Nearly half of the couples who obtain a marriage license through the office also choose to hold their wedding ceremony there; the department’s downtown waterfront location regularly hosts themed ceremonies throughout the year.

For information about obtaining a marriage license or scheduling a civil wedding ceremony, the county directs readers to sdarcc.gov.
