Los Angeles County’s Quality and Productivity Commission honored departmental teams at its 39th Annual Productivity and Quality Awards; the county said the projects produced more than $425 million in cumulative financial savings and benefits.
The county said 95 projects from 35 participating departments were submitted to the competition; four projects received the program’s top awards.
The county awarded the Gold Eagle to Care Camp Trauma‑Informed Fire Relief; the county said the project transformed county parks and gardens into safe, healing spaces for children and families affected by the Eaton Fire.
The county gave the Silver Eagle to Improving Community Health, One Knock at a Time; the county said that project brought coordinated health and social services directly to residents in communities facing persistent barriers to care.
The county said the Bronze Eagle was awarded in a tie for the first time in the ceremony’s history; the winners were LA‑DROP (Prehospital Blood Transfusion Pilot), which the county said established Los Angeles County’s first prehospital blood transfusion pilot and provided transfusions before patients reached the hospital, and Building the Business Interruption Fund Model, which the county said created the county’s first model to rapidly support small businesses, nonprofits and entrepreneurs facing economic disruption.
William Parent, chair of the Quality and Productivity Commission, said, “This year’s finalists and special awards embody a spirit of cooperation and imagination, a sense of urgency, and a drive to be both responsive and efficient.”
Los Angeles County Board Chair said, “At Los Angeles County, we take pride in delivering quality services to Angelenos, and that starts with the dedicated employees who continually look for ways to improve how we serve the public.”
