The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said crews are working to repair a water leak at 13316 W. Sunset Boulevard in Brentwood; Pacific Palisades water service remains safe and reliable.
LADWP said it is depressurizing the affected pipe to make onsite repairs and has activated contingency plans and a backup supply that it installed earlier this year; the department also said all water tanks serving the Palisades are currently full.
Because the system is pressurized, crews must close large valves carefully to avoid impacts elsewhere; LADWP said that process may take several hours but customers continue to have access to drinking water.
The department asked customers to conserve water to help maintain system pressure and ensure stable supplies for the community.
To protect the work site, LADWP said all eastbound lanes and one westbound lane of Sunset Boulevard between Allenford Avenue and Mandeville Canyon Road are closed; motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
