San Bernardino County said Operation Consequences resulted in 82 arrests and the seizure of 20 firearms.

The county said the week of Oct. 12 produced 30 felony arrests, 17 misdemeanor arrests and 35 warrant arrests; investigators served 19 search warrants and seized nine ghost guns among the 20 firearms.

The county said the operation was led by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Gangs/Narcotics Division with local, state and federal law enforcement partners; the SMASH Street Enforcement Team conducted proactive patrols in San Bernardino and nearby jurisdictions.

The county said Operation Consequences will continue over the next several months with a focus on targeted crime suppression, parole and probation checks in the High Desert and the sheriff’s jurisdiction surrounding the city of San Bernardino.

The Journal expects residents in those areas to see increased law-enforcement activity and checks on parolees and probationers while the operation runs; the county did not provide immediate data linking the arrests to reductions in violent crime or specify the charges and identities for all arrested individuals.
