A Los Angeles County jury on Oct. 6 found Lebaron Anthony Alexander Jr. guilty of sex trafficking nine females, two of whom were minors; the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.

The office said Alexander was convicted in case BA484835 of three counts of human trafficking of an adult, three counts of trafficking of a minor for a commercial sex act, five counts of pimping of an adult, one count of pandering of an adult and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

The district attorney’s office said the crimes occurred between January 2016 and February 2020 and that Alexander groomed victims, some met on social media, and severely beat several of them; at least one victim required hospitalization.

District Attorney said, “These sex traffickers inflict devastation among those they prey on. They exploit their victims’ circumstances and treat human lives as a means for profit.”

Prosecutors Emily Chai and Matthew Bunnett of the Sex Crimes Division’s Human Sex Trafficking Section handled the case; the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Bureau Human Trafficking Task Force investigated, the office said.

The district attorney’s office said Alexander faces a maximum sentence of 84 years in prison if the court imposes the full term.

The announcement placed Alexander’s conviction in the context of several recent and pending cases the office is prosecuting; the release listed other recent convictions and multiple defendants charged with trafficking minors in the Figueroa Corridor and elsewhere.

The office noted that in a separate case Demont Andre Jennings was sentenced Oct. 7 to 25 years to life plus an additional five years after a jury convicted him of shooting at a vehicle occupied by an alleged rival trafficker and two women; two occupants suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the release said.
