The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said it held a groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 17, 2026, to begin construction of the LADWP La Kretz Center, a new customer service office and community space at 1033 Cole Avenue in Hollywood.

LADWP says the Morton La Kretz family donated the land for the site; the department described the donation as intended to support the Hollywood community and to carry on Morton La Kretz’s philanthropic focus on sustainability and access to technology.

The facility was designed by John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects and is being built by Green Building Corporation; LADWP says the center will be about 8,000 square feet and is slated to open in the fall of 2028. It will replace the current Hollywood Customer Service Center at 6547 Sunset Boulevard.

Joseph Ramallo, LADWP chief customer officer and senior assistant general manager for communications and community affairs, said, “This new Customer Service Center will be able to help with so much more than simply paying your utility bill.” LADWP says the center will include a community meeting space and staff who can help customers sign up for LADWP programs, including rebates for electric vehicles and green home improvements and financial assistance programs.

LADWP and the La Kretz family previously partnered on the La Kretz Innovation Campus in downtown Los Angeles, which houses the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator; LADWP’s board vice president Nurit Katz said the new center continues that partnership and the family’s support for sustainability-focused projects.
