The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said crews are working to reroute water around a section of pipe affected by a leak on an air vacuum valve connected to the trunk line serving Pacific Palisades; while work continues customers may experience low water pressure or a loss of water service.

Drinking water in Pacific Palisades remains safe to drink, LADWP said; all water tanks serving the Palisades are currently full and contingency plans to prepare the backup water supply installed earlier this year have been activated.

Customers are asked to conserve water by turning off automatic irrigation and pool auto-refill systems to help maintain system pressure and stable supplies for the community.

All eastbound lanes and one westbound lane of Sunset Boulevard between Allenford Avenue and Mandeville Canyon Road remain closed to secure the work site; cyclists, pedestrians and motorists are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

LADWP said it is coordinating with the Los Angeles Fire Department to ensure fire protection and emergency services during the incident and will post updates on www.LADWPNews.com as new information becomes available.
