NASA said its Perseverance rover passed the total driving distance logged by the agency's Opportunity rover during a 299.6-foot (91.31-meter) drive on Oct. 11, 2026, the mission's 2,006th Martian day, or sol.
A navigation-camera image from that sol shows rover tracks and a rocky Martian landscape; the single-sol drive measured 299.6 feet (91.31 meters) and pushed Perseverance's cumulative distance beyond Opportunity's 28.06 miles (45.16 kilometers).
NASA said the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, managed for NASA by Caltech in Pasadena, California, built Perseverance and manages its operations for the agency's Science Mission Directorate as part of NASA's Mars Exploration Program.
