San Diego County said all six Public Health Centers and seven California Children’s Services Medical Therapy Units will close Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, for a transition to a new electronic health record system; the County said all sites will reopen the following day.
The County said staff have trained since July to move to the Ochin Epic system. The County said the upgrade will improve efficiency, replace paper records with digital records, reduce the chance of errors and improve customer experience. Public health teams moving to the new system include immunization services, tuberculosis clinical services, sexual health clinical services, home visiting services, case management and California Children’s Services operations.
The County said its Public Health Centers provide services including testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis and vaccines; its Medical Therapy Units offer occupational and physical therapy to children with medically eligible conditions. The County said that last fiscal year it provided sexual health services to nearly 2,300 people, tuberculosis treatment for 1,700 and medical therapy for more than 1,600 children and young adults with physical disabilities.
No appointments will be scheduled for Oct. 19 and the County said signs informing the public are posted at the sites; people can visit the County Public Health Centers and MTU websites for hours and the latest information.
